Love is the fountain from which flows every blessing that we enjoy. A happy home, must be seen as a gift from heaven; for God is love. He is the embodiment of love. When the cords of love binds two hearts in one, ever beating in unison, heaven comes down to earth. Where love reigns there is peace and joy, happiness is complete.
The wise man Solomon words find a response in many a heart when he says :-
Love... another name for home, the sweetest and most beautiful word, a place of fond memories. Love at home is the inspiration and the power that causes every wheel of home life to turn; it constructs and operates the smooth running of the home, builds the confidence of all. Every happy home is love’s token. For the man the mention of the word home is the centre to which his heart turns. For that his heart yearns when he is far away.
The family is God’s gift to us, one that should be cherished and not sacrificed for the acquisition of position, wealth or fame. The family circle like “Noah’s ark survives amidst the wasting waters of universal changes.” Is it therefore any wonder that the thought of home should cause such a tug on the hearts of all men? Whatever our occupation may be or the circumstances of our life, whether we are in the prison houses, on mountain tops or in valleys of doubt, home is still the centre to which the thoughts turn.
Many do not realize the value of home until they come to the place where flesh and heart begin to fail; then they recognize its pleasures, duties, joys and trials. Alas a beautiful house is not a home, for our homes should be rich in virtue, it should be a place where kindness is practised, increasing the true happiness of all.
Happiness is not riches, it is loving and being loved. It is not derived from mere outward possession, for many who are rich having gratified every desire and whim, are still farther from the possession of happiness. Many men who have accumulated riches have confessed that the acquisition of riches has robbed life of the sweetness and they were never as happy as when they were poor.
“It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.” … is still true today as it was when then!
God seeks all to enjoy the beauty of a beautiful life; he is looking for men and women who have learned to walk moment-by-moment with Him, trusting and depending on Him. People who have come to terms with their inadequacies, fears, and failures, and are ready to allow Him to assist them in creating happy homes where he might dwell with them. When we are willing to admit that our unhappiness and broken homes are the result of our own selfish desires, we will not be far from making that necessary change, in our behaviour.
So precious does God hold this beautiful possibility open to us, He sets in a home a man and a woman, so that neither can be without the stimulus to noble and fruitful living.
May we with all the wisdom, experience, patience, self control and self denial given to us strive to attain a happy home where love dwells for “It is in loving, not in being loved, the heart is blessed; it is in giving, not in seeking gifts, we find our quest.”
