Daily Inspiration
So let us take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God. For the word of God is quick and powerful, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even the dividing asunder, of the soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Our enemies are mighty, and we are without strength, but our Redeemer is almighty, and it is through his strength that we may overcome.
Only one weapon of attack; but it is good. The sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. It subdues and mortifies evil desires, and blasphemous thoughts as they arise within. It answers unbelief and error as they assault from without. A single text well understood and rightly applied, at once destroys a temptation or an objection, and subdues the most formidable adversary.

The devils assault us in the things pertaining to our souls, and labor to deface the heavenly image in our hearts. We must resolve not to yield to Satan. Resist him and he shall flee. Draw nigh to God and he will draw nigh unto you.
